Viola Milton of Cotton Plant, formerly of Harvey, Illinois, passed away at Unity Health-White County Medical Center in Searcy at the age of 70. She was born in Cotton Plant to Johnny Hayes Milton and Priscilla Blackmon-Milton. Viola was a member of New Mount Zion House of Prayer in Cotton Plant. She was formerly a member of Morning Star M.B. Church.

Viola received her formal education from the Cotton Plant Public School System. She was a member of the graduating class of 1969 of Cotton Plant Vocational High School. After high school, she relocated to Illinois and went on to further her education while living in Harvey/Chicago Illinois by attending one of the local city colleges.

Viola worked as an administrative assistant at Ziebell Elementary School in Harvey, Illinois for more than 30 years before retiring in 2010, and returning to her hometown of Cotton Plant, after having been gone for more than 40 years.

Her parents; two brothers, Moses Milton and Rubin Milton; and five sisters, Ruby Milton Conway, Ethel Milton, Johnnie Milton Berry, Dorothy Milton Chapple and Hazel Milton Vaughn, all preceded her in death. Survivors are two sisters, Gloria Milton, of Glendale, Ill, and Priscilla (Larry) Evans, of Cotton Plant; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were November 21 at Morning Star Cemetery in Cotton Plant with Bishop Kevin Lacey officiating. Arrangements were by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
