Shirley Ruth Davenport Davis

Shirley Ruth Davenport Davis, 64 passed away in Hammond, LA on January 22, 2024. Shirley was the first daughter of three to David and Frances Davenport on April 9, 1959, in Stuttgart, AR. Shirley loved riding horses at a young age. She loved hunting as well. Shirley is known for her great salsa and wonderful strawberry jelly. Shirley loved all her grandchildren and would do anything for them. She was raised in Monroe, AR where she met the love of her life, Sam Davis. They were married on January 2, 1978. Sam was her lifelong soulmate and her best friend. They were married 46 years. Shirley is preceded in death by her father, David Davenport, and brothers Wayne, and Stanley Davenport. She is survived by her husband, Sam of Ponchatoula, LA; daughter, Veronica Melancon of Fayetteville, AR; son Damien (Christy) of Prairieville, LA; daughter, Chelsea (Bobby) of Ponchatoula, LA; mother, Frances Hawkins Davenport; grandchildren, Terren (Jesse), Noah, Heath, Damon, Emma, Izabella, and Bubba; brother Rodney (Kaye) Davenport of Monroe, AR; sisters, Connie (Raymond) Pena of Fayetteville, Pam (Danny) Myers of Sheridan, AR. She leaves a host of loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A funeral service will be at Fowler Funeral Home on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 12:00 pm with visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow at White Church Cemetery in Rich, AR.
