Odell Burnett

Odell Burnett, of Brinkley died Tuesday, at Baptist Springhill Hospital in Little Rock, at the age of 78. Born in Moro to Eddie and Cynthia Burnett, he was the second of sixteen born to this union. He received his education at New Hope School System in Monroe County. On July 18, 1961, he joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Moro.
Odell married Queen Ester Overton and to this union five sons were born. He was employed with John Deere Tractor Company, as mechanic for over 32 years. He began his career June 1973 until his retirement in 2005.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sons: Clinton Burnett and Kenny Coleman; siblings: Marion Burnett, Maurice Smith, Rosey Nunn, Sammy Burnett, James Burnett and Duretha Burnett.
Odell was a loving husband, devoted father and a great provider to his family. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 58 years, Queen Ester Overton Burnett of Brinkley; five sons: Eddie (Jackie) Burnett, Darrell (Shauna) Burnett, Curtis (Bertha) Burnett, and Terry Burnett, all of Brinkley, Byron Turner of Atlanta, GA; one daughter-in-law: Carolyn Burnett of Memphis, TN; five sisters: Edna (Tony) Smith of Temple, Texas, Willie Mae (Robert) of Rockford, IL, Betty (Bill) Merriweather, Jesse (Eddie) West, Jamie (Charles) Turner both of Harker Heights, TX; two brothers: Ardell Burnett and John David Burnett both of Brinkley. Two sisters-in-law: Almeter Overton of Little Rock and Mary Burnett of Chicago, IL; one brother-in-law: Jo Overton of Brinkley; eighteen (18) grandchildren; twenty-three (23) great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were Saturday, October 12 at the Brinkley Civic Center, with Pastor Steve Willoughby officiating. Interment took place at St. John Cemetery, Brinkley. McNeal Coleman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
