Margie McGoy April 4, 1944 - January 30, 2020

Margie McGoy, of Wheatley, formerly of Brinkley, died at Baptist Health Medical Center-Springhill in North Little Rock, at the age of 75. She was born in Monroe to Hilliard McGaughey and Mary Seymore-McGaughey.

Margie was a longtime member of the Church of Our Lord-Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith under the leadership of Elder Willie Lee Harvey and Mother Lee Etta Harvey since the church’s founding in the 1970s. She served her church as a faithful and dedicated member. She and her children also served as the church’s custodians.

Margie was raised in the Monroe and Brinkley communities. She attended school in Wheatley.

During her earlier years, she relocated her family to the state of Michigan, where she lived and worked from 1966 until 1971. While residing in Michigan, she was employed at a food processing plant for several years before returning to Brinkley.

Her parents, her son, Phillips “Snapper” McGoy, a daughter, Lisa Marie McGoy; six grandchildren: Lakeisha Burnett-Leon, Brandon Burnett, Shaqueenia Burnett-Ellison, Devonta’ McGoy, Joseph McNeal Jr. and Orlandus O. McGoy, her brother, J.W. McGoy, and her sister, Barbara Chambers-Harris, all preceded Margie in death.

Survivors: seven sons: Floyd McNeal, Joseph McGoy, Gary (Wanda) McGoy and Jerome (Vickie) McGoy, all of Brinkley; David McGoy and Samuel McGoy, both of Tulsa, OK and Aaron (Lindsey) McGoy, of Mankato, MN; six daughters: Mary Ann Woods, of Brinkley; Brenda (Ed) Glover and Florestine Ellison, both of Little Rock; Brekie (Cecil) Burnett, of Wheatley; Shelia (Ellious) Swanigan, of Houston TX and Gwen Young, of Poplar Grove; sixty-eight grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; four brothers: E.L. (Gail) McGoy of Detroit, MI; Namon McGoy and Jesse Henderson, both of Little Rock; and Aaron (Violet Mae) McGoy, of Brinkley; three sisters: Ella Mae Nunn, of Brinkley; Diane (Sammie) Youngblood, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Lois Perry, of Lawton, OK and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Extended family and friends: the Harvey Family, Mable Culp, Violet Blake, Mary Butler, Olta Devine, Ethel Milton-Hall, Lula Tucker, Elder Larry Dixon, Floyd Williams, Carrie Aldridge, Mae McGoy and numerous other.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8, at the Brinkley Convention Center, with Elder Kenneth Harvey Sr. officiating. Interment took place at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Wheatley by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley. Pallbearers were: John James, Nelson Tate, Kenny Nunn, Dontrell Watson, Keith DeFrance, Dewayne Banks, Joe Cline, Mark Nelson, Albert Smith and Derrick Smith.
