Ethel Mae Terry Wallace Gardner, 76, of Brinkley, died suddenly in a car accident on Wednesday morning, August 13 in Lee County. She was born June 15, 1949 in Goodwin to Fred John Wesley “JW” Terry II and Virgina Hightire Terry, Ethel attended high school in Earle.
Ethel was a faithful member of the Brinkley Congregation ofJehovah’s Witnesses, and actively participated in volunteer Bible education work. She joyfully shared the Bible’s message and looked forward to its promises of resurrection and everlasting peace on earth. She worked for Lennox in Stuttgart before transitioning to self-employment following a cancer diagnosis. She had a deep love for butterflies, flowers,fishing, and the outdoors. A supporter of PBS, she enjoyed educational programs, especially nature documentaries. She found joy in thrift store shopping, QVC, home shopping, sewing, and cooking. She was known for her delicious pound cakes and for always being a caring, honest, and loving mother. Ethel had a special respect for those who prioritized family and caregiving.
She was preceded in death by parents; her sisters, Freddie Ann Terry and Virgie Lee “Lee Lee” Terry; her son, Willie Earle “Tojo” Wallace; and her grandmother who raised her, Virgie Lee Hightire. Survivors are her children from her marriage to Charles Wallace, Louis Wallace (Michelle) of North Little Rock, Darren Wallace of Phoenix, Ariz.,Adrian Wallace (Cassandra) of Little Rock, and Charlotte Wallace Harris (Craig) of Carlisle; her brother, Fred John Wesley Terry III (Linda) of West Memphis, and Robert Terry of Milwaukee, Wis;11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Sunday, August 24 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brinkley with CJ Williams Funeral Directors & Cremations handling the arrangements.
