Julius Lee Perkins

Julius Lee Perkins Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away at his home at the age of 57. Julius or “Boogie” as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was born in Chicago, Illinois to Julius Perkins Sr. and Ivern Jones-Perkins. He attended the Chicago Public School in Chicago, and was a 1981 graduate of Cooley High School in Chicago.

Julius was raised in Chicago and Brinkley. His grandparents, Elex and Donella Jones played a central role in his raising. He was formerly employed with Riceland Foods while living in Brinkley, before relocating back to Chicago for several years. In 2017, Julius and his family relocated Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he remained until his health failed.

His parents; a daughter, Lawanda Green; a brother, Rodney Perkins; and a sister, Laomi Perkins-Jeffers, all preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife, Lille Green-Perkins, of Oklahoma City, OK; three sons, Dawon Perkins and Rodney R., Perkins, both of Oklahoma City, Ok., and Julius Green, of Parsons, KS; six daughters, Felicia Green, of Cotton Plant, Denise Green, of Racine, WI, Dominique McDonald, of Chicago, Ill, Markeita Perkins, Laquida Perkins and Ieisha Perkins, all of Oklahoma City, OK; thirty-two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, two brothers, Rufus Perkins, of Chicago, Ill and Raymond Perkins, of South Bend, IN; three sisters, Dorothy Perkins-Williams, of Greenville, MS, Mary Perkins, of Chicago, Ill, and Sharon (John) Perkins Sawyer, of Jonesboro; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were October 31 at Macedonia Cemetery in Brinkley with Reverend Bobby Joe James officiating. Arrangements were by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
