Sam Wright Jr. of Biscoe passed away at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock at the age of 83. He was born in Mayflower in a little farm community to Sam Wright Sr. and Cotie Conley-Wright. “Bobo,” as Sam was affectionately known, spend his early years in Mayflower, where he attended the local school and learn to work on the family farm as a sharecropper in order to help support his family. His family moved to Biscoe in the 1950s to sharecrop with the H.B. Robinson Farms of Biscoe and DeValls Bluff, where he worked for several years.

For more than 55 years, Sam worked in eastern Arkansas for several construction companies. His last employment was in 2015, working with Rick Crystal Construction before he decided to fully retire.

His parents; three sons, Lawrence R. Palton, Sam Wright III, and Robert Louis Palton; a granddaughter, Chelsea D. Wright; Six brothers, Otha Wright, Carlton “Buck” Wright, Walter Lee Wright, Sylvester “Sonny” Wright, Loyce “Duck” Wright Sr. and Richard “Mike” Wright; five sisters,: Myrtis “Bea” Wright, Lorraine Swinners, Lillie Mae Wright, Lenora Mattison and Nellie Brown, all preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife, Martha Cohen-Wright, of Biscoe; three sons, Carl A. Wright, of Carlisle, CJ Williams, of Brinkley, and Eric Cohen, of Biscoe; four daughters, Alfreda Wright, Peggy Lee and Regina Cohen, all of Chicago, ill, and Pamela Wright, of Little Rock; two grandsons, he raised, Manuel (YuBella) Wright, of Monmouth, Ill, and Andrew Williams, of Little Rock; twenty-one grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; his sister, Corrine “Sis” Wright, of Minneapolis, MN; a sister-in-law, Lavada “Bae” Wright, of Conway; a special cousin, Hesterine Burgess, of Conway; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were October 31 at the DeValls Bluff High School Auditorium in DeValls Bluff with Elder Scipio Woods Jr. officiating. Interment was at Harrison Cemetery in Biscoe by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
