Eddie Lee Tucker January 10, 1943 – October 23, 2020

Eddie Lee Tucker of Brinkley passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto in South Haven, Mississippi at the age of 77. He was born in Brinkley to Clem Tucker Sr. and Ardelia Parks-Tucker.

Eddie was raised in Brinkley and attended Brinkley Public Schools. He was a 1963 graduate of Marian Anderson High School. He went on to further his education by attending AM&N College (currently the University of Arkansas) in Pine Bluff. He graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He was the only family member of his generation to receive a college education, an honor he was proud to carry.

Eddie was employed as an educator with the Brinkley Public School for more than 34 years. He taught civics and American government classes to junior and senior high school students. He retired in 2001. He was a dedicated teacher to his students.

His parents; four brothers, Robert Tucker Sr., Clem Tucker Jr., Willie Tucker and Petric Tucker; four sisters, Pearlie Wynne, Dorothy Mae Thomas, Lula Baker and Josie Brown; a grand-nephew, Thomas E. “Yoda” Baker, all preceded him in death. Survivors are his wife of 20 years, LeeVader Whitby-Tucker, of Brinkley; his son, Andre’ Tucker, of Brinkley; one grandson, Chancellor Tucker, of Brinkley; one sister, Minnie “Red” Lee Tucker, of Brinkley; three sisters-in-law, Thelma Tucker, of Brinkley, Maggie Tucker, of Dardanelle, and Erma Tucker, of Chicago, Ill; extended family members, Reem (Ronnie) Quinn, of Houston, TX, and Nedra “Tammy” Tucker, of Brinkley; a god-daughter, Rochelle Hardin, of Forrest City; cousins, Mattie Casey, of West Memphis, and Olta Devine, of Jonesboro; an aunt, Joyce Ree Caldwell, of Brinkley; five Whitby brothers-in-law; six Whitby sisters-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were November 1 at the Brinkley Convention Center in Brinkley with Reverend Keith McGee officiating. Interment was at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Brinkley by Branscumb Johnson & Gilchrest Funeral Home of Brinkley.
