Clyde Barnes Murphy Jr. passed away at St. Vincent’s in Little Rock at the age of 49. He was born in Helena to Clyde and Mary Ann Murphy Sr. He received education at Barton Schools graduating with the Class of 1990. On March 19, 1992, Clyde married Stacey Sherman. They eventually settled in Wheatley and the home was blessed with the birth of two children. Clyde enjoyed passing down his skills of hunting to his son, and coaching the little league teams for both Nicholas and Ryane. He also liked to fish and held a special place in his heart for canine family members; Sheldon, Beau-Beau and Lady Bug Murphy. His working career began as a farmhand for his Uncle; however, at the age of 18, Clyde secured a position with the West Helena Police Department working as a dispatcher. He continued his education and four years later, began his career as a police officer within the Department. Clyde remained for 9 years before accepting a position with the Arkansas Highway Police. Over the next 19 years, he would obtain the rank of Corporal, before retiring from public work. Clyde was raised in the Christian faith and attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Helena during his childhood. He was preceded in his journey by one sister, Carmen Martin and his Granny Bryant. He is survived by wife, Stacy Sherman Murphy; son, Nicholas Bryant Murphy; daughter, Ryane Bumgarner (Brett); parents, Clyde Barnes Sr. and Mary Ann Murphy; sister, Rachel Foster (Chuck). Services were Tuesday, November 17, at the Brinkley Convention Center with interment at Sunset Memorial Park in Barton, with arrangements by Bob Neal and Sons Funeral Home of Brinkley.
